The Symposium: ‘Dutch Agriculture, European Policies and Global Food System Transitions’

On Monday 2, Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 November Wageningen Economic Research organized a digital symposium consisting of a series of three lunch webinars and Seedcha was proud to participate.

The symposium focused on the rapidly changing world order, the food security crisis, increasing poverty, climate change, and environmental challenges, and their impact on the role and ambitions of Europe and the Netherlands. Attention was paid to the driving forces and prospects for the transformation of the food system in the Netherlands, Europe, and the developing countries, and to the challenges for government policy, business innovation, and researchers.

The contribution of agroforestry in promoting sustainable agricultural development in Quebec and Haiti

2019 – 2020 MINISTRY OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND LA FRANCOPHONIE

In collaboration with the Union of Haitian Citizens for the Development of Rural Space (UCHADER), an agricultural cooperative situated in the South-Est department of Haiti, this project focuses on the analysis of agroforestry systems in Quebec and Haiti as a strategy for mitigating the effects of climate change through a technical synthesis of practical knowledge.

Seedcha supports Montréal’s designation as a Fair Trade city

Seedcha was proud to offer a letter of support to the campaign to have Montréal designated a Fair Trade, a status determined by Fairtrade Canada in partnership with the Quebec Fair Trade Association and the Canadian Fair Trade Network. Seedcha is committed to promoting the use of Fair Trade products both in its own office and to others in Montréal and beyond.

Strengthening agricultural marketing strategies for women farmers in the Bouaké region of the Ivory Coast

2018 – 2019 MINISTRY OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND LA FRANCOPHONIE

This project offers workshops as well as a written guide to address the barriers to market access and information faced by members of the Federation of Associations of Displaced Persons and Victims of War of Côte d’Ivoire, whose members are mainly vulnerable women already engaged in market gardening. The project focuses primarily on manioc production.
